Inspired by Albrecht Durer's 1498 woodcut St Michael Fighting the Dragon,
plate number 11 of 15 from the series The Revelation of St John (Apocalypse with Pictures),
this work seeks to reproduce poetically Durer's original artwork and meaning. All of hell is loosed in heaven and begins to rain down on to the world of man below. In a move unimagined by Durer, Poem by Nari's apocalyptic rains recede from the horizon in a reversal of the natural laws of perspective.

      heaven's rain
      water of life blood
      water falls sulphuric acid
      rain falls
      man

wow .. i do love albrecht durer and i love this rain of the apocalypse too.
very cool when you click on it several times to make it change at warnell.com.
as far as an actual apocalypse ....
as long as alien lemurs don't fall down from the sky and devour us as part of the apocalypse i might be fine with it.... sort of.
would you save me a seat, please?

LL,

i wish you all best in 2012!

<3

dianne,

the colors are borrowed from mister vincent van gogh, who defined this particular combo as a 'struggle'

see the description at The Night Cafe

thanks -- very best in the new year to you & yours!

foam,

durer is cool -- and thanks for giving it a whirl at warnell.com, where every viewer is treated to their very own 'personal apocalypse' -- personal judgement -- personal fate(!)

happy new year & all best to you!

Your view of 2012 seems particularly apocalyptic to me but perhaps closer to the truth than my idyllic views...

nathalie,

of course this view
is just a fanciful illustration,
not a prediction or expectation for the future

i wish you a wonderful & creative 2012
full of light, love and magic
&
many more idyllic views!
