a garden in winter
for ruth <3
You must have lots of snow, it would look beautiful. I can see some flowers peeking through the white dusting of snow, very nice dear /t.
xoxoxo ♡
dianne,
we do have snow,
a light dusting of snow,
but the flowers are long gone...
those might be some of the withered
crabapples still holding on for the winter birds --
they'll find them come january or so -- those might be some of the various "birdberries" that grow wild around the place -- the flowers, though, are long past
i look forward to seeing your garden this year!

/t.
Maybe the deer you see in winter will eat the flowers.
/t., dear I have posted some Summer flowers on my blog for you. :)
xoxoxo ♡
LL,
there are deer here every day --
they sleep at night in my front yard
which overlooks the coulee -- there they are sheltered from the north wind and blowing snow -- i put out the remains of the carved pumpkin from halloween -- the deer nibble on it from time to time

dianne,
thank you(!)
and fine, warm flowers they are -- they cheer a winter white landscape

/t.
Do you get deer meat?
LL,
eewwwwe
that would be
like eating a pet
( maybe like eating a ewe :)

/t.
Oh no I've ordered venison for Xmas, will you hate me now? The garden is pretty even without flowers.
mo,
those would be euro-deer,
not ones from my front yard --
so you're cleared for xmas feast!
all garden are pretty, i thionk

ohhhhhhh, very beautiful! and for some reason when i click on the warnell.com link the red dots don't come through. but it's still very beautiful all in tones of gray and black and white. might be a firefox thing?
very beautiful foam,
not a firefox thing -- function x_clr() thing:
function x_clr() {
var x = ( x_rnd( c_N33 ) ? 1 : 0 );
var y = ( x ? "00000C; " : "FC0C00; " );
return ( "color: #" + y + x_opa( c_N66 >> x ) );
}
1 in 33 chance x is 0
y is black; red only if x is 0
opacity is 33%; 66% only if x is 0
the function is called 16 times, meaning that on average red will be visible just once every 4 or so times the work is displayed (page is loaded)
you can test this for yourself by visiting the dynamic work at warnell.com and reloading the page several times
the uncertainty of an appearance of red in this virtual winter garden might reflect some of the dynamics at play in the real one (!)
thank you, very beautiful foam

very cool. i had only reloaded it once. i'll try several tomes now :)
foam,
several tomes should do it :)
hey, here's a cool quote for you:
" mission of art is to rescue the world from transience and corruption, to capture moments and events in time and space before they slip into the irretrievable past, and so bear witness to the hand of God in creation. "
-André Bazin
well, sorta cool :)

White garden and crabapples ? Interesting how the imagination travels. Before reading your title I was seeing a cluster of yachts in a marina - all white fibreglass and a forest of masts.
nathalie,
i tend to work
from what i can see,
and i love your vision of masts,
but the nearest marina is about 800 miles west(!)
so i don't get to see very many boats :)
(can see 'em now that you say it)

/t.
