ohhhhhhh, very pretty, prairie fall grasses swaying in the wind ... a relentless west to east wind it would appear ...
foam,
yes, indeed
the wind blows here,
the grasses sway and leaves tumble
very soon now our canadian landscape colors will be overwhelmingly white, gray, and black -- hey, thems foam colors! excepting temperature dipping to south of minus thirty, you might like it up here in the dark ;)

-30C or -30F? It's perhaps not the cold so much as the dark. In Germany during the darkest days the sun would rise around 8ish and set around 16:00 hours. i thought that was already dark.
foam,
-30 to -45C
and sunny is a nice day
in january -- 8 hours of light
sounds about right around christmas

Beautiful.
Just beautiful.
But reading your comments above I realise I'm not prepared to think of winter just yet. Your autumn colours are enough of a culture shock for me.
I don't need greys, blacks and whites at this stage.
nathalie,
thanks -- you're sweet(!)
and you're right that it is too early
to be thinking about the winter months

I can't help but think this piece needs more snow in it :) I just finished "The Last Frontiersman" and I was devastated by the cold and furious conditions in the far reaches of the north. I couldn't help but think of you. If you and Ruth ever need a place to escape- head southeast- you have friends here ♥
mayden,
if ever we needed
to escape our winter woes,
we'd head southeast to the warmth
of a mayden's friendship -- for sure(!)
but we have no snow here... yet... and still tolerably warm days with cool evenings -- and with luck we won't see any snow until christmas
it is wonderful to see you here <3
